The one of the most remarkable aspects of this region is the distance from the central Tokyo. You will enjoy cultural experiences, visiting historic sites and even outdoor activities like hiking, cycling and river rafting as a day trip from downtown hotels in Tokyo.

All our tours include transport by chartered vehicle or public transportation and English speaking tour guide. Check out the details of this tour.

Viewing Satoyama scenic sites while cycling

SATOYAMA @TOKYO is where people and nature coexist in harmony.

We're going to across several bridges over Tamagawa River that is one of two big rivers running through Satoyama area. These rivers are sources of environmental sustainability around here.

You will see beautiful scenery of a stream of the river and a harmony between people and nature while cycling.

11:30
Visiting a temple to see the second tallest statue of Buddha in Japan

The 12 meters tall Great Buddha has been unveiled at Houkouji Temple in Hinode Town, Tokyo. This statue, called Rokuya Daibutsu (大仏:statue of Buddha), is taller than the Great Buddha of Kamakura(鎌倉) and the second tallest Daibutsu in Japan, following the Great Buddha of Nara(奈良).

The former chief priest planned this project about 40 years ago and current chief priest made it come true. The thought that he wants to mourn for victims of The Great East Japan Earthquake drives him finish it up.

He made the facial expression gentle to give people some peace of mind.

On the way back to the station, there is a spot where spring water from the loamy layer of the Kanto Plain and watercress grow wild.
