SATOYAMA @TOKYO is a neighborhood located to the west of the metropolitan area in Tokyo. There are no crowds, no skyscrapers and no bustle of a city, but mountains, rivers, good old Japanese culture and sound of nature. In such surroundings, people and nature coexist in harmony.
The one of the most remarkable aspects of this region is the distance from the central Tokyo. You will enjoy cultural experiences, visiting historic sites and even outdoor activities like hiking, cycling and river rafting as a day trip from downtown hotels in Tokyo.
All our tours include transport by chartered vehicle or public transportation and English speaking tour guide. Check out the details of this tour.

9:30 Mt. Mitake Hiking
First thing we have to do is boarding the cable car and climbing up 424m in elevation to Mt. Mitake. On the mountain, you can walk through the shopping arcade and visit the ancient shrine on the peak. It was founded over 2000 years ago. And the impressive view of the surrounding mountains from here brings you peace. In 40-min away from the shrine, there are the narrow, forested valley with lots of stones covered by moss and some water falls nearby.
16:00 Sake Brewery Tour
5 sake factories are located in this area because of the fresh and clean water from rivers. All the breweries are founded over 120 years ago and the oldest is established in 1702. 2 buildings are nationally registered tangible cultural properties.
Enjoy taking one of the guided brewery tours and knowing how to make sake and how the factories are. And sake sampling is also available to find your favorite one and buy it or two on the spot.
